Jellyfish are creatures that are found in the sea. There are different species of jellyfish, ranging from the very small ones to the giant-sized jellyfish. They have a general umbrella shaped bell, a d a tail of tentacles. Jellyfish do not swim, they allow themselves to be carried by current. This is why some beaches have high population of jellyfish. The tentacles are used in stinging their prey ad paralyzing them. However, the sting is not very harmful to human beings, although it can cause pain, redness of the skin and even infection. However, the effects of the sting only last for a few hours, with the most dangerous lasting for a day or two.

How to avoid being stung by jellyfish



Here are several methods that you can use to prevent being stung by jellyfish when you are at the beaches:

These are swim suits that are made of thick material to ensure that you are safe from being stung by jellyfish. They cover the whole body, leaving only few parts of the body like the face, which are easy to protect.

This is because the jellyfish are tricked into believing that they are touching themselves when they come into contact with your UV protective swimwear.


• Avoid touching the jellyfish when you see them. Some of the jellyfish may be aggressive and unfriendly and at the closest contact with the jellyfish you may end up getting stung.


• You can also disturb the water a little when you are getting in. This helps to scare away the jellyfish that may be in the water to prevent you from stepping them. It also allows the dead ones to be carried away by the water.
