Coronado name is derived from Spanish which means “the crowned one” and its also know “The Crown City”.

Coronado Beach is a 1.5 mile long, wide sandy beach with a silvery sheen sand. The beach is very flat which is good for skim boarding, jogging and walking. The beach is very popular for swimmers, surfers, sunbathers and beachcombers. Most families arrive in the morning, carrying umbrellas, beach towels and picnic coolers for an all-day stay. What makes it safe is a great team of lifeguards stands and watch they are always on duty usually from 9am till sunset.

At the Central Beach wheelchairs are available to the public and free of charge also there are restrooms, shower facilities also free parking on Ocean Boulevard and Ferry Landing Marketplace.

Many activities are available such as surfing, paddle boarding, boogie boarding, sunbathing, body surfing, swimming in gentle waves facing west or tranquil waters facing the bay also tide pools during low tide at Coronado Beach , fire rings and dog run at north end
